A Story of DevSecOps

One day Mickey was working in his garden when he saw Minnie going down the street

Mickey – Hey! Minnie

Minnie – Hi Mickey. How are you?

Mickey – I am good. What’ up!

Minnie – Nothing!

Mickey – Common, you can tell me

Minnie  I’m curious about DevSecOps. Can you explain it in a simple way

Mickey – Sure

Minnie – Wait, can you come with me to the beach, I was actually going there

Mickey – Even better. Let me take Pluto too. Let’s go.

(Mickey & Minnie went to the beach)

Mickey – It is so nice here

Minnie – Yes it is

Mickey  Okay, Minnie! Think of your favorite toy, like your teddy bear. You want to make sure it stays safe and doesn’t get dirty or broken, right?

Minnie  Yes, I love my teddy bear!

Mickey  Well, DevSecOps is like taking care of your teddy bear. Imagine you have three friends: Dev, Sec, and Ops. They each have a special job

Minnie  What does Dev do?

Mickey  Dev is like the teddy bear maker. They create your teddy bear, sew its buttons, and make it soft and cuddly. That’s like building software, like a game or an app

Minnie  Got it. And what about Sec?

Mickey  Sec is like the teddy bear’s bodyguard. They make sure your teddy bear doesn’t get dirty or torn. In DevSecOps, they protect the software from bad things, like bugs and hackers

Minnie  So, Sec keeps my teddy bear safe, just like in the computer world

Mickey  Exactly! Now, Ops is like the teddy bear’s butler. They make sure your teddy bear is always where you can find it, clean, and ready to play with. In DevSecOps, Ops takes care of the software every day, making sure it works well

Minnie  So, Ops makes sure my teddy bear is always clean and ready, like taking care of the software

Mickey  That’s right! DevSecOps is like having these three friends work together to make sure your teddy bear (or software) is perfect: well-made, safe, and always ready to play with.

Minnie  Thanks, Mickey! Now I understand. DevSecOps is like having friends who take care of my teddy bear, just like we take care of software to keep it safe and working great

Mickey  You’ve got it, Minnie! It’s all about making sure everything we love is safe and in the best shape

Minnie  Mickey, you explained DevSecOps really well with our teddy bear example, but how is it used in the real world?

Mickey  Great question, Minnie! DevSecOps is like a team of superheroes for computer programs and apps. In the real world, people use DevSecOps to make sure the software we all use, like games, websites, and even things that control traffic lights, is safe and works perfectly.

Minnie  So, it’s like a superhero team for our computer stuff?

Mickey  Exactly! Let me give you a real-world example. Imagine a company wants to create a new app for chatting with friends. First, the “Dev” superhero team creates the app, making sure it’s fun and easy to use

Minnie  Like building a new toy!

Mickey  Right! But they also need the “Sec” superheroes. They come in and make sure the app is safe from bad people who might want to sneak into your chat and cause trouble

Minnie  So, Sec keeps it safe, just like a superhero keeping us safe

Mickey  That’s it! And then there are the “Ops” superheroes. They make sure the app is always available, like your favorite ice cream at the store. They watch over it, making sure it works, even if lots of people use it at the same time

Minnie  Ops makes sure it’s always ready to use, like our toys always being there when we want to play.

Mickey  You got it! DevSecOps is like a team of superheroes working together to make sure we have amazing, safe, and fun computer stuff

Minnie  That sounds awesome! Thanks, Mickey!

Mickey  You’re welcome, Minnie! It’s all about making the digital world a better and safer place for everyone.

Minnie – Great

Mickey – Do you want to go and play on the beach?

Minnie – No, I just want to sit with you and watch the sunset. Thank you, Mickey.

Mickey – I am always here for you 🙂
